I finished Borderlands 2 and my opinion of it is that it’s too hard to be enjoyable. I like a challenging game but not when it’s so frustrating that you just don’t want to play it. I began a second play-through in Vault Hunter mode and i quickly gave up as the difficulty became even more insane. I would have preferred it if they had let you pick your own difficulty setting – unless this game is only for the gaming elite?
Not only that but i missed the atmosphere of Borderlands 1, that lonely futuristic junkyark feel with the spine tingling soundtrack, the gore (yay for exploding heads) and the truly unique feel of the landscape. BL2 feels much more mainstream and dumbed down although the story was better.
The only thing i will miss in BL2 is Zero the assassin! I usually play Mordecai so now i’m giving Roland the soldier a go.

I was just reading a blog post here by a guy who has quit world of Warcraft in order to get his life back. He’s exercising now and everything! It’s a very long read but the gist is, I don’t think WoW is the problem. I think you are either capable of moderation or you’re not. I’ve been playing WoW for 2 years (in moderation), and I haven’t yet cancelled a real life activity in order to play. I joke about it being addictive but in reality I play whenever I have spare time to play.I sometimes go weeks without touching it and i know hordes[1] of people do the same thing.
We are adults after all, what is so difficult about managing your time so that you can go out on your bike, do your job, visit your friends and family, mow the lawn, walk the dog and yes play WoW and even Farmville! It is possible to do all of these things. Is that so hard?
If it is then (imo) it’s not WoW that’s the problem, it’s the player. If you can’t manage your time then don’t blame the game/activity. Frankly i don’t care if you are an addict, some addictions are great but i don’t much care for people getting on their high horse and making it sound like we must all follow suit now that they have seen the light.
Anyway, i can’t sit here blogging all day, i have a Blood Elf that needs levelling up …. :-)
Yay it’s almost here. The landscape has started to vibrate at my current location (Grom’Gol) which i assume is old Deathwing flapping his wings and having a little hissy fit deep beneath the earth? Anyway, it’s almost as exciting as waiting for Final Fantasy (which admittedly didn’t turn out to be as fabulous as i hoped). Anyhoo, bring it on!
I’m going to treat myself to a new laptop towards the end of the year so i’ve started researching them. What i’m looking for is something powerful enough to run the latest games but portable enough to sit on my knee. So the absolute maximum would be 15″ but i’d prefer 12 to 14″. Oh and it will need a backlit keyboard so i can type in bed with the lights dimmed! :-)
The first one that fits the bill is Alienware m11x. A beast of a laptop but after viewing the forums there seems to be a few quality control issues with them, most commonly a hinge that breaks off and the screen getting scratched from hitting the keyboard. It shouldn’t surprise me, i’ve had laptops from Dell before (they took over Alienware) and two of those were returned because of shoddyness.
The second one that fits the bill is Sony Vaio Z. Spec and size wise it is perfect and it looks extremely well built. And far nicer looking that the alienware. Trouble is it costs a frigging fortune! I’m not sure i’m up for spending 2 grand or over on a laptop.
Others that i’ve seen mentioned are MSI and Acer but they’re not really what i’m looking for. Either too big or lack of features i’m looking for. It’s surprising what little choice there is for a powerful ultra portable. I can’t find any 13″ laptops. I know Dell (yea i know) used to do an XPS 13″. I suppose there’s always a macbook but i don’t know how it will work with games.
ARGHHHH!
Finally! Finally Final Fantasy. Finally … (ahem). The only bitch being it’s being released on the PS3 only and i’m still on PS2. Is it sad that i’d consider buying a PS2 purely for FF3? Well no not just for that, we could do with a BluRay player at some point and i hear they’re quite good for that. Anyway, the game!
