To Boldly go .... Or maybe not. As a self confessed gadget freak i’m always excited about the next new toy. My Vodafone contract will be up this December and i will be due an upgrade to a new phone. At the moment i have a Blackberry Bold. Vodafone have just announced that they will be getting the iPhone 3Gs. Oo joy! Or is it?

I’ve been playing with my iPod touch, using it to try out typing because i do a lot of emailing and texting from my phone and i just don’t like the keyboard at all. It’s nowhere near as accurate as my Bold. Plus it feels flimsier, i can slide my Bold into my jeans pocket and i know it’s not going to get damaged, it’s a tough old gal. But the iPhone/touch? My Touch is already looking very scratched and rough and i have been very gentle with it.

So, for the first time in my life, i’m not going to grab the newest shiny toy for the hell of it, and i probably won’t upgrade to the latest Bold either if they really are making it smaller. For me, it’s going to take a hell of a phone to compete with BB Bold!

kindleA good week this week for fellow nerds. Amazon Kindle is finally coming the UK (and other countries too).

I’m over the moon because i’m a big reader and my book collection is getting ridiculous. They’re spilling from shelves and bookcases to being stacked up on the floor. I know i could use the library but i have a bit of a germ thing and you never never who has been reading what on the toilet *shudder*.

Anyhoo! You can order it from Amazon US. It’s a new international version but for the time being can only be imported from America. I’ve got mine pre-ordered and hopefully it will be here on the 23rd October. Unless of course it sells out and whoever pre-ordered it before me gets it first (SCREAM!). I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Here’s a link to where you can find some free ebooks for your Kindle (or other ereader): www.TheKindleWarehouse.com

Oh and some sites have been suggesting that Brits downloading books to their Kindle from Amazon will have to pay a $1.99 roaming fee per book, this isn’t true *hoorah*. It’ll be very handy being able to download a book without being attached to a computer or near a wifi spot. I often like to read more than one book at a time so it’ll be ideal for me. Can’t wait!

Well i know i haven’t blogged for a bit but there’s been feck all to write about! I’m quite bored with World of Warcraft already, it’s great and everything but after being brought up on Final Fantasy it just doesn’t compete! Doesn’t help that you have to keep paying a monthly subscription to play it. Been thinking about Christmas, can’t get over how fast this year is going. I’m looking forward to getting the decorations up but not looking forward to the early dark nights and shitty weather. Bleh.

Anyway, i shall hopefully have something to write about soon, in the meantime i’m going to reinstall Supreme Commander!
