Absolute Sandman Volume 1: This thing weighs a ton!

Absolute Sandman Volume 1: Unlike any comic i've ever read...

I’ve been an avid book reader for a while now, usually i read fantasy and horror novels but whilst browsing on amazon i came across reviews for these Sandman graphic novels. I hadn’t read a ‘comic’ in years though i used to religiously but i thought i’d give them another whirl. Well, Absolute Sandman is a bit more than a comic (it’s certainly more expensive at £70 a book) but wow! The stories and artwork are amazing. I’m about to start Sandman volume 3, i couldn’t put the previous 2 volumes down and i’ll be really disappointed when these are over with. I’m still waiting for volume 4 which is proving quite difficult to get hold of.

The other graphic novels i’ve read are From Hell and The Watchmen. Both of which were brilliant too. I’m now on the look-out for other great graphic reads. I’ve bought some batman legends and i have a set of Fantastic 4 to get through so should keep me busy through the summer.

I’ve been looking for somewhere to upload both photos and videos. For pix i used Flickr and for videos i used Viddyou and had paid accounts with both. I’ve also tried Vimeo which i like and YouTube which is full of idiotic children leaving idiotic comments, so although HD videos look ok on YouTube, it’s still the a trailertrash video site. So anyway, i found SmugMug! It’s certainly not the cheapest of pix and video hosting solutions but i reckon it’s the best. Your photos are displayed very professionally and you can even sell them through SmugMug. But what really impressed me was their HD video! I’ve uploaded a couple of HD videos and they look amazing on there. Plus you get embed codes so you can embed either dvd quality video or web quality (see below).

Viddyou videos look better embedded i think, however, go to SmugMug and watch the video in full size High Def and you really notice a difference! –> Click Here

Well it finally happened to me, i became a victim of card fraud – mother fuck!  Some bastard stole £200 out of my bank account for a payment to Orange and they also tried to take another £153 out for something else but luckily i found it quickly and the bank managed to stop it going through, hopefully the scummy bastard will be traced. I did a google and i’m not the only one who this has happened to with that exact same Orange company (on the statement there’s a transaction code next to the name Orange and it matches the one i saw on the web).

Now i haven’t used my card that much lately so hopefully we’ll be able to track down where it happened. I have a feeling it was at a clothes shop i visited not too long ago that i don’t usually go to. We shall see!

Well i got my money back. Can’t say that i was overly impressed with how the bank handled it. On each of my phone calls to them they seemed far more interested in trying to sell me an extended overdraft (to give the fraudsters more money to play with!?) and to take on travel insurance. But once the claim forms came and were returned my money was out back into my account pretty much straight away and to be honest, i have a feeling the whole thing was a bank fuck-up and nothing to do with card fraud after all. We shall see!
