Welcome to my blog! I'm interested in music, specifically 'The Madge' but other stuff too, mostly electronic but also ambient, alternative and some rock. Love photography. Love talkin' shit. So that's what's on this site, Music, Madge, Photography n' shit ....
Well - Madge absolutely rocked at Roseland Ballroom where she was doing a mini promo gig for Hard Candy. She appeared on stage in a Gwen Stefani chair in full pimp gear. Least i think it was pimp gear, that or Willy Wonka? She had tremendous energy and although i can't say i'm keen on what she did with Hung Up i thought the other song rocked - especially Candy Shop! Anyway, the songs she did are:
I loved this the first time around and i'm loving it even more the second time around!
This is the 'after dark' version of the video. I don't know what's so 'after dark' about it apart from the bald hunk squirming around with his girly but hey ho .....
HOORAH! The album has finally leaked and it doesn't disappoint! I must say Pharrell has done a stellar job on old Madge - far better than Timbadum and Timberdee.
Produced by Justin, Danja and Timbaland:
4 Minutes - I really don't like it, tried to but it aint happening
Miles Away - Loving this one, it's not my favourite by any means but i think it's the best of the Timbaland/Timberlake efforts
Dance 2Night - I think this one's a grower, i'm not loving it
Devil Wouldn't Recognize You - I think i've heard this somewhere before :p It's an ok song and considering how long it's taken to get it on an album i was expecting a lot more.
Voices - Doesn't really do anything for me
Produced and written solely by Pharrell & Madonna:
Candy Shop - I've loved this from the first moment i heard it!
Give It 2 Me - I adore this song, funky as fuck and is going to sound amazing live.
Heartbeat - Again i'm loving this song.
She's Not Me - This is my favourite song on the album and indeed probably my favourite Madge song ever! I think it's the best thing she's ever done. Her voice sounds amazing and the i love how the songs breaks in the middle and completely changes its sound!
Incredible - I wasn't keen on first listen but i'm loving it now - and again, i love how half way through its sound completely changes.
Beat Goes On (ft. Kanye West) - I didn't like the 30 second preview but now i've heard it in full i'm glad the demo got reworked, i love it now and i even like Kanye's rap!
Spanish Lesson - Very strange, i like it but it's my least fave of the Pharrell tracks
Ring My Bell (iTunes bonus track): Not heard yet
Overall i'm really happy with the album, i think it's far better than Confessions because it's more varied. I was expecting big things from Timbaland and not so great things from Pharrell but i think it's turned out the other way around - Pharrell has done an incredible job! I wish he'd done the entire album. Apart from Miles Away i don't think Timbaland/Timberlake have done anything particularly special - maybe they need to take a break to get back their creative juices.
Me and the other half went to Ironbridge today. Not the best day for visiting the living museum when it rained liked fuck but still, i took some pics and have put them in the 'photography' section under 'Days Out - Ironbridge'. (Or click on read more to see clickable thumbnails).
"The world's first cast iron bridge was built over the River Severn at Coalbrookdale in 1779. Not only iron founders and industrial spies flocked to see this wondrous bridge, but also artists and travellers. The Bridge had a far reaching impact: on local society and the economy, on bridge design and on the use of cast iron in building."
